#223 - Am I Giving Myself Grace—or Making Excuses?

What’s the difference between giving yourself grace…and just making excuses?

One of my clients asked this question on a recent coaching call, and I knew we needed to talk about it.

Because when you’re trying to stop overeating and lose weight, it can be easy to think that being hard on yourself is the same thing as holding yourself accountable.

But grace doesn’t mean your choices don’t matter.

An excuse gets you out of responsibility. Grace frees you from condemnation so you can take responsibility.

In this episode, we’re talking about the difference between judgment, excuses, and grace—and what each one sounds like after you’ve eaten something you didn’t plan.

You’ll learn why curiosity is so much more helpful than condemnation, how grace can actually help you change your behavior, and why you don’t have to beat yourself up in order to hold yourself accountable.

We’ll also look at Titus 2:11–12 and what the Bible teaches us about grace: grace doesn’t leave us where we are. Grace teaches us.

If you’ve ever wondered, “Am I giving myself grace, or am I just letting myself off the hook?” this episode is for you.

You don’t need shame to change. You need truth, grace, and the willingness to keep going.
